Tomorrow I make my triumphant (well, slightly) return back to Macomb to negotiate a contract job with the Illinois Media Resource Center. I hope that this renegotiation of my contract makes enough profit that I can relax a little. I originally took work from these people when I feared layoff from my WIU position, and the project ended up dragging on for quite some time. It resolved nicely, they were happy, however I was only making $7.50/hr, so I was not.
At the close of that project, I told them that for additional work I would require a contract renegotiation, and I was recently contacted by a user of our system for a minor update. I CC’d the supervisor for the project, who came back to me asking if I would be willing to take another contract job. So we scheduled tomorrow’s meeting. I plan to suggest a rate increase in the vicinity of $30/hr for a job that will take roughly two weeks. We shall see how that flys.
