Last night we were doing the “hold the knee down in front stance and do reverse punch” drill and Sensei Brewer made a correction on my hip rotation and then stopped because he remembered that I had hurt my back in January.
I would like to shout from the rooftops that my back has been generally in working order since I got my new bed in October. It still has a little hitch in there every now and again when I’m doing idiotic stuff, but general hip rotation and normal body action is pain-free.
I guess my purpose for mentioning this is for those of you that train with me… don’t let me slack on my rotation just because you think my spine will splinter… it won’t. At least not right now.

perhaps his correction involved some sort of akward movement to generate speed or power, but he thought that the akwardness would be degenerative to an already weak back. Not to say that your back is weak, but once something is injured it very rarely recovers to 100% capability and 100% durability.
Yeah, he just wanted me to rotate a little more. I think I could’ve handled it.
