Last night I was late coming home from work, and I found that my gi was still in the washer. No big deal, I was 20 minutes late to Karate. I showed up right as they were getting into the workout portion of the class, so I didn’t miss anything but warmups.
First class was pretty focused on basics, stance, and form. My Dad returned to Karate last night and to be perfectly honest, I think his technique looks every bit as good as it used to. He doesn’t sweat as profusely anymore and reports have told me that he isn’t very sore today.
I’m glad to have him back. There was something cool about sharing Karate with other members of your family, it was really neat when Ains was still in there too. And my cousin, John. They will likely never come back, however I hold out hope that Tasha will become better than either of them and therefore fill the Karate Family void.
Second class consisted of a quick refresher of all Heian katas, all the Tekki katas, the basic four black belt katas, Nijyushiho, and Sochin. Then it was time for three to five time sparring. Sensei Brewer mentioned to me to “move slowly, attack fast” which was later clarified to wanting me to move from my center more.
No injuries last night, there was a near miss when McCabe-san moved my contact to the extreme upper left of my left eye. I thought it had gotten knocked out, but upon inspection by Erbe-san it was found and retreived. My eye is a little sore today, so I’m wearing my new glasses. Absolutely no lasting damage done.
