This weekend’s workout was what has become standard for us: run through Shodan test, Nidan test, and katas. The addition this week was slow sparring. I elected to go right into the slow sparring because I needed it by that point in the week.
Everything went pretty well, for some reason I was having difficulty placing my techniques. I did, however, have a pretty decent hook kick upside
By the end of this workout, I was marginally frustrated and tired. I think the toll of working out this much so intensely has caught up to me. Over the weekend, I had the good fortune to paint the kitchen which offered very little in the way of relaxation but it had to be done.
I have entered into the Injury Containment Phase of my Nidan training, where I will dial back to three workouts a week (Tues, Thurs, and Sat) in order to let my body heal while at the same time maintaining my current acquired skills (what little there is). I have to say that despite the painting that was done, a few of the little aches and pains that have been bothering me (mostly in my feet) have been more quiet over the past two days.
I need to work out tonight though. I’m feeling twitchy and on edge and somewhat out of schedule since I missed Monday night on purpose. I decided to stay at home to support Tasha’s new business last night, so I’m stuck replacing Tuesday night practice with Wednesday night. That means we’ll be on the stage, which is always frustrating, but it will be a workout nonetheless.
