Incredible.
I’ve been fighting this bug for the last week and a half at work. I can’t go too far into details because it would expose important parts of our infrastructure (gasp! We’ve got one!!) but suffice it to say it was a tough problem that left us with very little trail to go off of.
Tonight I’m whacking around on one of our vendor’s websites and lo and behold someone on their knowlege network had THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. Complete with same software platform, symptoms, and small trail to follow. It turns out that the vendor app in question needed to be patched, as there was a bug in it that required the vendor to change their codebase. (This is a big primary colored vendor, so it takes a lot for them to code up a patch.)
Now, this wouldn’t have frustrated me so badly if not for the fact that the people that maintain this other application have been trying to pin this problem on someone else or some other group. I’m really looking forward to dropping this bombshell on them. Holy crap is it going to feel good.
