Tonight Tasha and I visited the home of one of my coworkers, Faizal. He and his wife cooked us “mild” Indian food which is actually the temperature of a cool day on Mercury. I am proud to say that I widened my horizons considerably and ate nearly everything put in front of me.
The only thing I didn’t eat much of was the Egg Curry, because I was sure that the potent blend of one billion herbs and spices were going to kill me and I didn’t need eggs on top of that. It was funny, because I really enjoyed everything I was eating, but my nose was running and I was sweating so Faizal thought I didn’t like it. Until I started asking for seconds.
Faizal’s daughter, Fatina, is *really* cute. She’s two years and three months old, and was into everything. When we got there, she was watching Barney and tried to tell us all the colors on the screen. While Tasha was showing her new Longaberger stuff, Fatina was trying to show me all the different colors in the pottery sample box, calling all of them blue. She was calling Tasha “auntie” and me “uncle” all night, since I don’t think she had other words to call adults that weren’t her parents.
It was a really great time, Faizal’s wife is a very good cook and they are both really fun to be around. We’re going to make an effort to get together with them again soon, its a shame it took us this long.
Those of you that need to be around me in the next few days, I can cast Fireball at a level 5 caster.

I’ve had Indian food on multiple occasions now, when we’ve gone to the various restaurants and also a time when a bunch of the families in the section cooked food for us. Every time, I find someone who knows what the food is to guide me on whether it’s hot or not so I don’t stumble into the pot of fire accidentally, and I’ve learned we have very different ideas of what’s hot or not. I can’t really handle hot things, so I basically have to ask for the blandest, most low key spiciness ever and I get what I consider mild.
And even with that, I always get a runny nose – a stack of Kleenex on hand is usually a requirement. That being said, there’s some really good things to eat – including stuff I never thought I would eat in a million years.
Stay the frell away from my desk…
I believe you will find something liquid and granular in your keyboard when you return. You can blame Faizal.
My keyboard was a mouldering pile of plastic this morning. Actually, once the hazmat team cleared things out and got me a new Dell Quietkey keyboard, I realized this meant that I didn’t have to clean my old one! Thanks Phoot Boy…
