The ride home went much more smoothly tonight. Right now I’m waiting for Tasha to get back from Sams so we can go to my supervisor’s Christmas party. It should be a pretty good time, however Tasha and I are going to spend a part of tonight cleaning out our entertainment center in preparation for our new TV.
I’ve been doing some research: apparently HD cable costs $15 more per month. Not too bad. I figure we’ll have one line going into the HDTV tuner on the set and another line going into the MythTV. I may hook up my Xbox on another line.
I’m a little concerned about reconfiguring the MythTV to work with the HD set. It may go well, it may not. I figure so long as I don’t mess with the cable it should just work. I will have to find out what adding HD cable will do to my setup. An HD tuner for MythTV costs about $130, and I think its still a little on the experimental side. We’ll see how it goes, and we’ll see what the standard cable quality looks like via the HDTV. If its tolerable, I may wait for a bit before I upgrade the Myth to have an HD tuner.
Fun stuff. I can’t wait to start playing with this thing!

You may be better off at this time to buy a tuner (unless your TV already has one) and put up and antenna. With my setup, I get 19,25, 25-2, 31, 47 and 47HD. Nothing on 31 in hd. 19 and 25 have some programs that we watch. 47hd is always hd, but I don;t watch much on it.

Good advice. My TV has an Air and Cable hookup so I will be able to do both. I didn’t know we were going over the air HD around here already, that’s very cool.
… asked one of the folks who “opted out”…
It was actually quite a bit of fun. It was a smaller group than her last get together, we sat around most of the time playing some party board games. We stuck around for a few hours, a little longer than we anticipated because Debra wanted to “see how my brain worked” on a certain game they were playing before we came. Tasha and I really had good chemistry on that one.
I still can’t get over the opulance of Sharon’s pad… seeing it decked out with candles, wreaths, and Christmas trees was a sight to behold. Must be nice at the top.
How was Kevin’s show?
