Osaka Sensei does open his hands when transitioning to the high low blocks. He is transitioning from a punching position to the high low blocks (which are closed fist for those of you that are not karate people) so quickly that it is easy to miss.
It happens so quickly that I had a hard time pausing the DVD fast enough to catch it. Now if I only had some DVD software that could take screenshots I would be able to post the transition to remove all doubt.

you know they sell like $20 DVD players at walmart that have frame by frame.
Yeah, that’s not the problem. I can go frame-by-frame, but the software that I have won’t take screenshots of the playback because it is DirectX and it just has this “live palette” that doesn’t easily get captured.
I know CyberLink PowerDVD has a screen capture feature that will eliminate this problem, but I don’t have that version on my laptop. Yet.
