This morning I scheduled an appointment with Meineke to get my squealing brakes looked at. I was a little worried about the cost of such an endeavor, having called my Saturn dealership and asked for a ballpark range. They cited me $250-$600, before they added labor in there.
So I decided to give Meineke a shot because I have heard good buzz about them. I ended up needing new pads, rotors, and wheel cylinders. Normally, I would be skeptical of needing that much work done, however they quickly offered to take me into the shop and show me why they felt the way that they did, showing me what a normal looking part was and where the problem areas of mine were.
It was very clear to see that I did, in fact, need these parts replaced. I was expecting some pretty severe sticker shock, considering they had to order the parts to get this done. Happily, the grand total (tax and all) came out to $293. Plus the pads and rotors are warrantied for as long as I own the car.
I was very impressed with their professionalism, their non-pushy approach, and their willingness to explain to me why they wanted to do the repairs that they did. Coupled with the fact that they were on the low end of the cost scale, I’m a pretty happy camper. I plan to go back here whenever I need service of this kind performed again.
Later on this afternoon I have a meeting with my Mortgage Lady, who I am going to make reduce my payments. So far I’m having a pretty good day of getting Real World Responsibilities taken care of. w00t!
