Dad and I went gun shopping again this week. He purchased a Beretta Neos 22 cal.
Since we are both new to the semiautomatic game, I’ve been giving some thought to getting a 22 caliber as well to learn with.
This provides several benefits:
1.) The gun will be significantly cheaper to purchase.
The Neos that my Dad got cost around $250. The cheapest price that I’ve found the 40 cal Walther P99 that I wanted locally is $575 used. In the terms of up-front cost for getting into a new hobby, this just makes more sense.
2.) 22 caliber is cheaper to shoot.
The bullets are cheaper per shot in a 22 by a pretty fair margin. I’d rather have the room to make a lot of mistakes and spend a little less money while doing it.
3.) It gives me another excuse to own more guns.
If I get this now and love shooting, I can always get more guns later. The collector in me likes this concept.
With those things in mind, can anyone recommend any good 22 caliber semi-auto’s?

You want to look at the Ruger 22/45 Mark III because its built off the 1911 grip, so it’s a straight transition. It’s a “trainer”.
IS THIS A 22 CALIBER

thats the spirit.
i cant say that i have ever noticed a significant difference with any .22. They are all basically the same. as long as you are going cheap, i would just get a used .22 and get a nice gun later. i cant really say that there is such a thing as “a nice 22″
good luck in your new hobby. mabey i will go shooting with you next time im home.
