Tuesday night’s workout was more torture built on the backs of the Saturday workout. It was quite apparent about 3/4 of the way through the first class that my legs were not even remotely ready for that type of punishment again. It started with some stiffness and a general lack of resolve to get into stance. Then, the burn set in, far too quickly.

I will do many things for karate, but blow both my knees out at once is not one of them. One, maybe. Both, no way.
I was able to jump back in for some of the latter combinations, but even then my legs were asking if I was sure the entire time. I pushed my way through it and made it to the second class, where we did the normal belt rank syllabus and then graduated into some sparring drills. Those felt pretty good, however I was in no shape to exercise my light and lively tactics that we worked on Saturday afternoon.
It was a good, tiring workout. I need more of these, but I also need a little recovery time in between onslaughts. I said it as I lead warmups on Tuesday that I am paying the price for being lazy, and that is the truth. I can tell its going to be a hot summer.
