Scarab is right, I have been phoning it in the past few days… so I will actually put some effort into tonight’s post. Today is Ash Wednesday, and since Tasha and I have lazily not found a church to go to yet (great Catholics that we are) about the only thing special about today was the beginning of our normal Lenten observation. I got to answer the obligatory questions about what I can and can’t eat, whether are not there are any other “superstitions” (probably the wrong word on their part) that I had to follow during this time of year, and what the purpose of it is.
Ash Wednesday being a day of observance, that means we get no snacks between meals and no meat. Fridays are just no meat days. You’re supposed to give something up that is a temptation or bad for you in some way, but I’m having trouble coming up with something to give up this year. In the past I have given up chocolate or McDonalds, those were somewhat hard but also attainable. I’m NOT giving up Diet Coke this year, that was ridiculously hard when I did it in 2002. I think I might give up candy this time around… our office seems to saturation bomb the place with mini candy bars during our Scrum meetings, and I always eat a ton of them. That’s a good one. I think that’ll be it.
Anyway, that being said… my bike/weights routine was made considerably more difficult due to the distinct lack of protein I suffered during the day. I’m pretty tired now, and putting up the weight was just a lot harder than normal. That’s about all there is to the actual workout part of this post… so I’ll phone that part in.
