My cousin came over tonight to tell me all about his new career as a finner at our local foundry. Throughout the course of the evening, we got to talking about some of the things that we used to enjoy from years past but have gotten away from, and it reminded me of how much I enjoyed Edgar Allen Poe.
This being the time of the year where most of his work is appreciated, I recalled deftly avoiding the boring prattle of my high school freshman English class by copying the text of Poe’s “The Raven” from the unused chapters of our book. In doing so, I avoided discussion of Homer’s The Odyssey, which I do not regret.
In short, if you take nothing more from this post than to visit this transcription of The Raven and appreciate it a little the world will be a better place.
