Time for the first post of the New Year! The New Year’s holiday was well spent with
We did make it through the Return of the King Extended Edition, several of the scenes they added back in WERE GLORIOUS. The breaking of Saruman’s staff was my favorite re-added scene. Talk about awesome!
Also awesome was the fact that we filled ourselves with whatever food we desired, very much for the last time. You see, my lovely wife and I have begun the South Beach diet for weight loss and better blood chemistry. For those of you that know me, you will note that I am not even remotely fat even though I have put on some extra poundage in the past 10 months. I am sticking to this diet in an effort to provide a unified front for Tasha’s endeavors and also because I fear my genetic legacy of largeness that my Dad exhibits. I plan to stabilize my weight between 140 and 145.
The first two weeks of this diet emphasises an Adkins-like high protein, good carbs only approach. This is the “strict phase” which jolts your blood chemistry back to good person status. Then you begin to re-add the carbs you like until your weight gain stops. Then you are in this holding pattern until your end of days. For those interested in continuing to lose weight, you only add back carbs so long as you continue to gradually lose the pounds.
The first two days have been relatively dull. Since I am not much of a salad-eater, I have been relagated down to Canadian bacon for breakfast, lunchmeat or turkey hot dogs for lunch (no bread), and a dinner of an adaquately sized beef or chicken slab. Snacks of low-fat part-skim milk string cheese are encouraged, and actually I like those pretty well. Dessert of no sugar added Jello is also permitted, which is also a Good Thing.
Tonight’s dinner menu is ground sirloin hamburger steaks. I’m trying to find a good recipe for lemon pepper chicken to see how that goes. I’m going to take this opportunity to learn how to cook, because I’ve always wanted to. There are enough approved ingredients in this diet that I should be able to find some interesting things that I haven’t tried before, so it should be fun.
Also my New Years Karate Goal is to make Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday workouts without fail. If I have to miss one of these days, I make it up on Monday or Wednesday. No fewer than three workouts in a week until Nidan or Death take me.
