Dad and I initiated Project Kata tonight and showed up at the dojo a little before 6 pm. Around 6:25 I was done with 15 Sochin kata. My legs were starting to get tired, but I told myself that I could squeeze out 5 more during the break period between classes. I did 2 Bassai Dai’s with Dad for good measure, and then class started.
I realized halfway through warmups that I had that magical leg fatigue that causes localized numbness and lack of limb control. Hooray. I gutted it through the basic class, which was pretty tame by recent standards. I didn’t get paired up with anyone during partner training, thankfully, so I got a little bit of a rest.
The in-between classes period began, I got some water and then did 3 of my 5 Sochins before
I completed my 5 “in-between” kata. I decided that since I had so much time left, I would try to get through another five. So we did. However, when we did,
My legs are still numb and not responding well right now. Tomorrow Dad and I are going to try something slightly different using his weight vest, and some ankle/hand weights. Also, I think I’m going to try a protein regiment in order to ensure I don’t fritter away whatever remains of my body’s fat stores during this endeavor.
Needless to say, I’m tired. Damn.
