My infraredLEDs arrived!

Another piece of my multitouch setup arrived today! Two hundred of these LEDs showed up courtesy of All Electronics.

It will still be some time before I’m ready to actually learn how to wire these up. First I have to do some tests to determine the actual screen size I will be capable of with my short throw projector, purchase some acrylic, and construct a frame for the edge.

I think the first order of business will be to modify my Xbox Live Vision camera so it can only see infrared light. That’s just going to take a little time and some exposed film (two layers in place of the camera’s original infrared filter blocks most visible light!), which makes it a good starting point.

I’m going to need to be able to tell when the IR LEDs are hooked up correctly, and that’s a very good way to do so!
