Tonight we traveled up to Golden to visit my former project manager, Greg. He has led a very interesting life and this has afforded him a wellspring of hobbies, one of which is music. He has collected a wide variety of different instruments (honestly, too many to recount here) including several guitars of some pretty impressive pedigree.
Among the many guitars we played tonight, I got to play a 1944 Gibson L-7. Greg’s guitar was pretty special, as it has a special custom pickup that there were very few of. Greg tells us that one identical guitar is owned by Lyle Lovitz. Pretty neat stuff! Greg showed us a few tunes and gave both Paul and I some drills to practice with, in addition to letting us listen to some of his in-progress music recordings.
It was a pretty great night of “guy time”, something we hope to repeat in the future. For now, its off to bed!
