I don’t even know where to begin… this concert was awesome. They started the show around 8:20 and played until 9:30, then came back around 10 and played until around 11:30. They really played a ton of music, which I was keeping track of on my phone. I made a setlist.fm set list of the show for posterity.
I can’t get over how great Joe Walsh is on the guitar. Also, Steuart Smith (who replaced Don Felder) is one hell of a guitarist as well. Speaking of guitars, wow did they ever have an array! Gibsons, Telecasters, some weird custom double-neck guitar, and a Dusenberg Starplayer TV guitar which was a sight (and sound) to remember. They played a really good mix of stuff from their Long Road Out of Eden albums and plenty of their old hits. They closed out the night with Desperado, one of my favorite songs.
The Pepsi Center was really packed and unfortunately we got seats in section 120 which is in the corner, so our seats were oddly shaped and not all that comfortable. In fact, Tasha’s armrest was detached and kept coming off every time she moved. The venue had some weird rules this time around, for the first few songs of the night the security guy at the end of the row was making people sit down during slower songs. Eventually, some woman had enough of that and got the manager to make the guy stop doing that… I don’t blame her, for as much as these seats cost people should be able to do cartwheels if they felt like it and not get harassed.
